It's still an exciting, if dated, adventure. If I was a boy growing up in the 1950s, I would have loved this book.
Space pioneer series#
If you have the chance, give this series a try.more Of course, he isn't! The book is surprisingly well-written and boys in the 50s and 60s who loved adventure must have bonded with these characters. The boys begin to suspect that Paul Videc, the Lieutenant Governor, is not a good man. Maybe we will be colonizing other planets by then? In "Space Pioneers" the cadets are sent out with an expedition to colonize Roald, a distant (billions of miles) planet away in another solar system. Another Tom Corbett book mentions that the year is 2325 or something like that. Google says that the surface temps are 820-900 degrees F. Astro comes from the planet Venus and speaks perfect English! It's mentioned that Venus is a tropical planet. The three space cadets consist of Tom, Roger, and Astro. I did recognize some of their every day inventions as something that exists today- like a moving sidewalk. Yes, it's very dated with the technology but we have not yet established colonies on other planets, let alone on planets in the galaxy of other stars.

Space pioneer full#
I would not have been caught dead reading it as a kid but as a grandma, I found it amusing and full of adventure.

The man means nothing but evil, and if the cadets don't catch him at it, it'll be the end of them for certain. But somehow a villain named Paul Vidac has wormed his way into the Cadets' assignment - replacing Capt. The Solar Guard is establishing its first colony on a star far away in space, and of course, our heroes are in on the mission. It's another tale of the three young men who serve in the Solar Guard as Space Cadets.
